I'm off to Palau today! Very excited, but still very unprepared--in typical Hoot style. I still have to pack all my stuff, check my SCUBA gear, drop my final grades off at PICS, hit up the ATM, clear my crap off Allois' floor so he will remember me for something other than my mess while I'm gone... And yet, I'm playing on my computer instead of doing any of these things. Typical. I still haven't decided whether to take my laptop or not. It's not doing so well... the battery failed this week and then it hit the floor during my end of the year party, which couldn't have helped its poor old circuit boards. I want to be able to upload photos and Skype though. Need to make a decision and start getting ready to blow this popsicle stand. (That is the expression, right? Popsicle stand? I don't get it.)
My mum has been nagging me to change my blog's profile picture: wish granted. Now its a photo of me and some of my students, from my end of the semester party. The party was a blast--it was a crazy dance fest. Loved it. There are many more pics on my Facebook. Still not sure whether I will have the same students next semester or not. I love the students I have, but I would also like the opportunity to start over, as an effective disciplinarian.
As of this evening, I will be off-island for the first time in five months. Yikes! I'm not sure how it will feel. At least Palau is a similar locale. It has a smaller population than Pohnpei--21,000 to 35,000. But it's much more developed for tourism. I might really like it... I guess I'll know soon! Tomorrow night I'll be scuba diving and eating Indian food on yet another tropical island. Life is rough.
