Progress

I found the third site for my project! Which means I can set the traps tomorrow. It probably won't be terribly fun, because I'm going to have to drag 50-pound bags of sand around the rain forest, but at least I'm getting some work done. We leave for the beach (our week-long field trip) on Monday morning, so I will have time to check the traps twice before we go. That means I'll need to check them eight times during my last two weeks here. Whew. Should be an adventure. Hopefully some cool animals will walk through my traps.

I've also started finalizing plans for an exciting trip to Rio!! Alysse, Amanda, and I (and possibly two guys, Chaim and Evan) are going to spend 5 nights in Rio after we finish the SEE-U program. We're going to take the bus from Sao Paulo to Rio on the 28th (a long six-hour ride), then stay for five nights in the San Marco Hotel. I just booked the reservations. The hotel looks basic but adequate; all of the reviews I read online claim that the hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, and the beach is only a few steps away. SO excited! Rio is apparently a constant party. And I'm going to be there for my birthday! Yessss.

Another exciting matter--our social is tonight! I think I'm going to keep myself on a pretty tight leash tonight, if you know what I mean, because I passed out pretty early last Thursday and I don't want to miss any drama. And I'm fairly sure that there will be drama. Tensions are building between a few of the students here; but luckily, I'm not embroiled in any of the contentions.

I think I might wear a dress tonight. Scratch that, I have to wear a dress because all of my clothes are still wet.
